1) write about one idea of Matthew Arnold  which you find interesting  and  relevant  in our times.

Arnold  asserts  that literature ,especially poetry  is  ' Criticism  of life , this  criticism  of life  must  conform  to the laws  of  poetic  truth and  poetic  beauty.Arnold  puts  Wordsworth  in the front  rank not  for his  poetry  but for his  " criticism  of   life ".I agree   with  Arnold's  concept  of  poetry. Arnold's  gave a  concept  and the first  great  principal  of criticism  that  of disinterestedness  or detachment , disinterestedness  on the  part  of  the critic implies freedom from  all prejudices , personal or  historical.  I agree at  this point there should  no any  partiality in criticizing  work of  any literature . it should  criticize  on only by  detachment. if there would particular  perspective of  self or any kind of  partiality ,then the real value of work will be lost. it may be happen that  good work not came out because of  partiality, or  any bad work spread among people , which lead towards bad way. so there should be detachment.

2)write  about one idea of Matthew Arnold which you find out of date  and irrelevant in our time.

As per my point of view  Arnold's the  'Touchstone method ''  introduced  scientific  objectivity to critical  evaluation by  providing  comparison and analysis  as the two  primary  tools for judging individual poets. Arnold's  ideal  poets are  homer and  Sophocles  in the ancient  world .Arnold while  giving his touchstone  method makes aware  about the fallacy in judgement. Arnold said  that modern writer lack of high seriousness. he compares them with  ancients. but both have their own  importance according to time. they are genius of  own time. that's why it is not relevant  in our time. Arnold's concept of  poetry in many ways changed nowadays according to time, which  changes is necessary. So this theory not relevant now , it was written  according time of  Arnold.
