The Waste land - T. S. Eliot

1.What are your views on the following image after reading "The waste land"? Do you think that Eliot is regressive as compared to Nietzsche's views? or has Eliot achieved universality of thought by recalling mytho-historical answer to the contemporary malaise?

Nietzsche seems to be progressive and forward looking in the giving solution to the problem of contemporary crisis in faith and self.
Nietzsche said about " Ubermensch " that individual morality with freedom is more difficult then enjoy freedom with morality.

While Eliot looking backward and tries to find the solution from upanishad and cultural time. But Nietzsche said that our God Ram and Krishna , they creates their own morality . It was not imitation , their contribution is free from morality , it was individual morality . Or we can say ' self morality ' . They editing the value of human life ' Humanity ' .

Everyone can not follow the personal morality or can't become ' superman' so Nietzsche seems to progressive that our cultural heroes with  ' concept of Ubermensch ' will not provide any solution , but look forward for solution of faith , morality and individulance.

Eliot used mythical concept by showing deeds and morality for solution . But cultural time much different then contemporary malaise. It would not affect .
So Eliot is regressive then Nietzsche.

2.What are your views regarding these comments? Is it true that giving free vent to the repressed 'primitive instinct' lead us to happy and satisfied life? or do you agree with Eliot's view that 'salvation of man lies in the preservation of the cultural tradition'?

At this point I am agree with Eliot's view that Salvation of man lies in the preservation of the cultural tradition . If giving free vent to repressed ' primitive instinct ' may be satisfied our ' id ,ego and superego '  but if it bad then it will dangerous for other human beings . So it will also not lead happy life but unhappiness and disaster situation . So at some point minds have roots in cultural tradition is necessary otherwise it lead life of despair , disaster , destruction of people.so Eliot's view find better then Fruad.

3.Write about allusions to the Indian thoughts in 'The Waste Land'. (Where, How and Why are the Indian thoughts referred?)

In ' Waste land ' Eliot used mythical techniques and different way of analysis of character than tradition.
In part - ' The fire sermon ' we find Gautama Buddha 's sermon to people for moksha philosophy .

In ' What the thunder said ' from " Prajapati Upnishad "  Eliot shows the way of re - birth on the basis of wisdom of India .

Ther is also reference of holy river of India , mythically and spiritual connected to India.

" Ganga was sunken , and the limb leaves waited for rain.
While the back clouds gatherd far distant , over Himavant. "

Datta - Sacrifice , noble deeds or noble cause " Karna and Bhamasha "

Dayadhvam - Sympathize or live into others , emphasize yourself with sorrows and suffering of others . Not self ego and pride.
